2008 HOME & GARDEN TOUR
SATURDAY, APRIL 12th - 9:am - 5 pm

Whether you enjoy history, architecture, decorating or gardening, the Historic Elmwood Park Tour of Homes & Gardens has something for everyone to see. Spend a leisurely day visiting one of the most beautiful and well preserved areas in the capital city. The 2008 event is on Saturday, April 12th and will celebrate over 100 years of growth for the City of Columbia.

Stroll the tree lined streets and admire the restored homes with large front porches flanked by graceful columns. During the annual Tour, selected homes and private gardens are open to visitors to view how current residents have designed living spaces with high ceilings, multiple fire places and gleaming hardwood floors.

In addition to the houses, the Tour includes private gardens, showing off a wide assortment of spring blooms and plantings as well as various design styles from formal to cozy and inviting. On the day of the Tour, live musical performances and local artist displays are featured on porches throughout the neighborhood. And if you get hungry while taking in all of the sites, a delicious box luncheon and refreshments will be available for a picnic in the park.

To add to the overall turn-of-the-century ambience, visitors can view the historic district from horse-drawn carriages. Rides are complimentary for all ticket holders.

Elmwood Park is designated an Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places and a Design Preservation Area by the City of Columbia. The neighborhood is only blocks from the Governor's Mansion and Finlay Park. It is easily reached from interstate 126 or 277 into the capital city.

Tickets are available the day of the tour and can be obtained at Roy Lynch Park located on Lincoln Street, one block north of Elmwood Avenue. Homes and gardens are open from 9:00am until 5:00 pm on the day of the tour.
